  16. ## WHAT IS IT?
  17. CAT-SOOP is a flexible, programmable learning management system based on the
  18. Python programming language. It was originally developed primarily for use in
  19. MIT's 6.01 (_Introduction to Electrical Engineering and Computer Science via
  20. Robotics_), and it has since been used in several courses at MIT. Read more
  21. about CAT-SOOP at [this page](COURSE/docs/about).

  33. ## CAN I USE IT FOR MY COURSE?
  34. Of course! CAT-SOOP is [free/libre
  35. software](https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html), available under the
  36. terms of the [GNU Affero General Public License, version 3+](BASE/cs_util/license).
  37. Please note that the terms of this license apply to the CAT-SOOP system itself,
  38. but not to any course material hosted on a CAT-SOOP instance, unless explicitly
  39. stated otherwise.
  40. Although the [documentation](COURSE/docs) is a bit sparse, I am working on
  41. it!
  42. ## IS IT ANY GOOD?
  43. Yes.
